Creative Escape

Sea Glass & Sea Pottery has been naturally tumbled in the ebbs and flows of the sea waves before being wash upon the shoreline for a lucky beachcomber with a keen eye to collect these timeless treasures.

This workshop will have you working with these timeless sea treasures and incorporating them in to your own handcrafted silver jewellery.

Just as each piece of sea glass & pottery is completely unique, each project made will be one of a kind.  Combe through a selection of sea glass or pottery to be bezel set in fine silver and fabricating them into your own pendant or drop earrings. 

Skills taught :: Piercing straight and curved edges, forming bezel wire, soldering, measuring, filing, sanding, and polishing. 

This workshop is suitable for all beginners and is a stepping stone of foundation skills and techniques.

This workshop will have you combing through a beautiful selection of British sea glass to find your perfect match, learning to fabricate a bezel from silver, form and solder a ring to your size, and finishing off the session by learning to bezel set your sea glass. Just as every piece of sea glass is unique, each ring made will be one of a kind!

Work with the timeless treasures of sea glass to handcraft a truly stunning silver statement ring

This workshop provides you the opportunity to personally handcraft your own set of sterling silver rings! Over the course of the day you will have the opportunity to experiment with adding different surface finishes and textures to your rings, as well as choosing from a variety of beautiful round rose cut and cabochon gemstones to bezel set. During the workshop you will be handcrafting a set of 3 stacking rings with 1 gemstone setting, fabricating your own bezel cup to fit your chosen gemstone and lastly learning to bezel set and finish your rings.

Learn the ancient craft of sand casting jewellery

Introduction to Sand Casting Jewellery 

Spinner rings, also known as meditation rings, originate from the ancient Tibetan prayer wheel. Spinner rings are designed to have one or more outer rings that spin freely around an inner ring.  The repetitive motion of playing with a spinner ring can help relax and calm the mind.  

During this workshop you'll be learning the silversmithing techniques to design and fabricate a sterling silver inner ring band and 2 outer spinning bands using silver or copper. Walk away wearing your own personalised spinner ring.  

Skills taught :: Ring sizing, annealing, soldering, hammer texturing, metal forming, filing and finishing

This was the latest of several courses I’ve done at Creative Escape.  The instructor is extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and helpful and your jewellery with her help always comes out looking amazing. Great value and a great way to spend a few hours. Would thoroughly recommend!

Learning to fabricate chains will launch your jewellery making skills to a new realm. An added bonus is it quite a fun and meditative process that will have your imagination run wild with the possibilities! 

The most exciting part of this workshop is the opportunity to learn to fuse with beautiful Argentium Silver to fabricate your chains.  If you have never worked with Argentium before it’s properties will surely amazing you.

Throughout the workshop we will explore different wire gauges in relation to your design choice, how to make individual and repetitive links, learning to fuse using Argentium Silver, different methods of texturing wire, and most importantly getting creative with different chain links that can be achieved to make one of a kind jewellery. 

By the end of the class you will have transformed Argentium Silver wire into a creative chain link bracelet, pendant or necklace. Due to the time restriction of the workshop, designs will be scaled to ensure you are able to achieve a finished piece by the end of the workshop.  For more ambitious chain designs booking a follow up Open Studio Session may be required. Chains will be finished to a brushed silver and ready to wear.  If you would like your chain to be high polished leave it behind for a night in the tumbler and it will be posted or ready to collect during the week.

Skills taught :: making jump rings and chain links, working with wire and different gauges,  fusing Argentium Silver, using pliers like a pro, filing, texturing, clasp design.

Silver Rings & Bangles 

If you love a little sparkle and want to add tube setting to your jewellery skill repertoire this is the perfect workshop!  

During this day workshop you will have the opportunity to personally handcraft a set of silver stacking rings, highlighted with a tube set gemstone.  Tube setting is an ideal beginners method of setting round faceted gemstones. 

The first part of the workshop you will walk through the process of making your own set of 3 stacking ring while exploring different surface finishes and textures that can be added to reflect your own personal style.  Followed by an introduction and hands-on practice of how to tube set a round faceted gemstone.  After getting a good grasp of the setting technique you will move on to incorporating a tube setting to 1 of your stacking rings. 

Skills taught :: Ring sizing & shaping, soldering, measuring and selecting gemstones, using pendant drill and setting burrs, seating faceted stones, burnishing, sawing, filing, sanding, finishing.

This memorable experience begins with a complimentary 30min personalised Design Consultation including the style of rings, sizes, materials and finishes available to translate your story into bespoke wedding rings.

During your consultation you will have the opportunity to discuss available dates for your private Wedding Ring workshop and provide you with a feel of how you’re experience will be on the day.

During the workshop is where your handcrafted Wedding Rings become a reality. Make Your Own Wedding Rings - Consultion

Learn to create a perfect replica of a real leaf in delicate solid silver to make earrings, pendants and charms.  As unique as nature is, each piece will be completely unique to you. 

Choose a leaf from a selection provided or bring a few along with you.  If bringing your own leaves, please bring a variety as some leaves may not be suitable.   It is ideal to look for leaves that have veins and detail on the back for example Oak, Beech, Strawberry, Maple etc.  Unsuitable leaves are ones with a smooth, waxy or furry surface for example Ivy, Holly, Tomato.  All leaves must be alive and not dried.

The best part is that, after the workshop, you can easily replicate this workshop at home to make beautiful gifts.   

Skills taught :: Working with PMC Silver Clay, firing silver clay, burnishing, finishing techniques

** All tools are provided except for the silver.  The silver required to make your jewellery can be bought on the day, payment by cash or card. Material cost is based on weight of your finished pieces.  You are able to make as many leaves as time allows.  As a rough guide approximately £3 of silver is required for a small leaf to £10 for a large leaf.
